Preserving the Fleet of the South Street Seaport Museum

Preserving the Fleet of the South Street Seaport Museum

Past Program I Virtual

Please note: You are viewing an archived page for a program, event, or activitiy that has already taken place. in most cases these pages are no longer actively maintained and because of that may contain inaccurate or out-of-date information. These pages are left publicly viewable to preserve institutional memory and to allow the public to learn more about the types of programs, activities, and content created and made available by the South Street Seaport Museum throughout its history.

Since our founding over 52 years ago, the Seaport Museum has faced the daunting job of preserving its historic fleet. Enjoy a photographic voyage with our Director of Historic Ships Jesse Lebovics to see the challenges and remarkable efforts made for the long term preservation of 1885 ship Wavertree, 1930 tugboat W.O. Decker, 1885 schooner Pioneer, and the planned upcoming work on 1907 lightship Ambrose.

This online program has already taken place, but you can still enjoy the video. Click below to watch.
