November 18, 2023–January 7, 2024 | 25 Fulton Street | Starting at $18
Throughout the holiday season, after your visit to the South Street Seaport Museum and tour of the 1908 lightship Ambrose, see a confectionary recreation of the beloved ship nestled among other feats of gingerbread wonder at the seasonal pop-up exhibition, The Gingerbread City® by the Museum of Architecture. Each delectable structure in this installation highlights how architects, designers, Museums, and cultural institutions are tackling climate change in New York City and beyond.
The Gingerbread City® offers a magical metropolis made from cookies, candy, and frosting. In addition to the Seaport Museum’s lightship, more than 50 architects and designers contributed to this scrumptious fantasy skyline of ginger buildings, moving trains, and twirling parts that will wow visitors of all ages at the Seaport.
Tickets to visit this exhibition are available through the Museum of Architecture and are sold separately from the Pay What You Wish General Admission tickets to the South Street Seaport Museum.

Watershed Workshop
December 16 | 12–2pm | In front of 12 Fulton Street | Free
Looking for even more activities to enhance your visit to the Seaport Museum and The Gingerbread City®? Visit on Saturday, December 16, between 12–2pm, to learn more about climate change and how New Yorkers interact with our water resources.
On the cobblestones, in front of the Seaport Museum’s introduction galleries, experience a free educational activity exploring watersheds––areas of land that drain or “shed” rainfall and snowmelt into streams and rivers. Using 3D models of the New York Harbor and Catskills Watersheds, we will get hands-on while investigating ways in which people in New York City interact with our water resources, learning how land-based pollution such as litter and automobile drippings enter our waterways through run-off, and inspecting how we get our water from upland sources.
No registration needed. This all-ages activity takes place outdoors at 12 Fulton Street and walk-ups are welcome.
Extend Your Visit
Access to the Seaport Museum’s historical ships and introduction galleries is not included with these offerings. To extend your visit and see more that the Museum has to offer, ask Museum staff about our Pay What You Wish General Admission tickets when you check in.
