October 3 | 6–8pm | Wavertree | Free
Drop in for an evening of extended Museum hours aboard the 1885 tall ship Wavertree that feature live music and classic games.
Musician and songwriter Blair Lamb will be joined by a five-piece band to perform an hour-long set featuring covers of the songs that shaped their early years, alongside favorites from their childhood that have been reimagined in Blair’s signature folk/pop/Americana style. From early 2000s movie soundtracks to beloved cartoons like Schoolhouse Rock, and even the release of her new original single “Mother Goose”—a song about embracing your inner child—you’ll be transported back to the sounds that define a generation.
Throughout the deck of the ship you will be able to rediscover the simple fun of nostalgic games such as hopscotch, yo-yos, jacks, checkers, and duckpin bowling, and try your hand at traditional Lenape games.
It’s music, games, and memory-making—all after hours at the Seaport Museum. Preregistration is encouraged. Walkups will be accommodated as possible. Sparkling wine and seltzer will be available on the main deck while you enjoy the music throughout the evening. Access to Wavertree involves climbing a few stairs, walking up an angled gangway, and descending a few stairs onto the deck. The lower decks are accessible via stairs, while the upper deck requires navigating steep ladder-like stairs.
About the Musician and Songwriter
Blair Lamb is a Kentucky-grown and New York City-based musician, songwriter, and actor. She received her BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Piano from Northern Kentucky University and has since performed professionally worldwide. Her artistry casts a wide net, capturing everything from jazzy cocktail piano entertainment to professional children’s theatre. Before settling in NYC, Lamb spent nearly three years performing on luxury cruise ships as both a dueling pianist and a solo piano bar entertainer, drawing from a repertoire of over a thousand songs. She has sailed with six separate cruise ships to over 30 countries, crossing both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans multiple times—that’s a lot of time at sea! Now that she’s finally gotten her land legs back, she consistently performs her nostalgic, lyric-driven original music in the NYC circuit. You can find her sophomore EP, ‘Two Left Feet’ on all music streaming platforms.
About the 1885 Tall Ship Wavertree
Wavertree was built at Southampton, England, in 1885 and, after a 24-year sailing career and circumnavigating the globe at least three times, is now the last remaining iron-hulled three-masted full-rigged cargo ship. Today, Wavertree is visited by guests of all ages from around the globe and serves as the centerpiece of the “Street of Ships” at the Seaport Museum. She was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 13, 1978 and symbolizes the profound influence of sailing ships, their intrepid sailors, and the bustling waterfront in shaping New York City into a modern metropolis. As a historic vessel with a fascinating past, Wavertree embodies the rich maritime heritage that played a pivotal role in transforming South Street into the vibrant heart of “Where New York Begins.”
